HONOLULU -- Dog the Bounty Hunter and his crew chased down a suspect on Hawaii’s most wanted list and may consider going after the FBI’s backpack bandit.
TV reality series star Duane Dog Chapman and his crew chased down Derek Kirkpatrick who they say has been wanted for stealing jewelry from a Waikiki shop. They say they gave chase Wednesday night after the suspect bolted from a Makiki home. Mace was used during the scuffle and police were called.
“As this is all going on our finest the Honolulu police department showed up and the subject immediately went into a fit and said he was having an attack so the police officer called an ambulance and the last time he was strapped on a gurney with his hands cuffed,” said Chapman.
The crew said he was to be taken to the hospital to be checked out before being booked at the police headquarters. On Tuesday the FBI put up $10,000 for information leading up to the arrest of a suspect they believe is a serial bank robber.
The money has been added to Honolulu Police Department’s Crime Stoppers $1,000 reward.
“We are willing to share that reward the $10,000 to the person that comes forward providing the name of the Hawaii's alleged bank robber.
But Dog may have some competition. After only one day Crime Stoppers says more than 40 people have called in with information. The program usually gets 100 in a month.
