Famed U.S. bounty hunter and bail bondsman Duane “The Dog” Chapman — who says he’s captured more than 6,000 bad guys over his 27-year career—will make his first trip to the city to meet fans and give the keynote address at Dog Days of Summer, a family friendly event in support of Teen Challenge.
“When I was 16-years-old and went to jail, the only book in the jail was the Teen Challenge book,” Chapman told Metro over the phone from Colorado. “I happen to know some of the guys that started Teen Challenge, so I feel blessed to be able to represent them in Canada.”
Twenty per cent of all ticket sales will be given to Teen Challenge, for their work providing drug and alcohol rehabilitation, education and training.
Best known as the star of the reality show Dog the Bounty Hunter, which wrapped up its eight-season this year, Chapman has lived a storied life on both sides of the law—including a stint in a Texas state penitentiary and recovery from drug and alcohol abuse.
The now clean-living celebrity will speak about his personal story at the event, held at the Victoria Inn Hotel and Conference, at 7:30 p.m. The address will follow an autograph session from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. and a day’s worth of activities and a trade show, which kick off at 11 a.m.
